Hello there,
Welcome to my blog, a place for me to post my thoughts (or perceivings
you may say) on various aviation related topics.
First, allow me to introduce myself.
Background:
My name is Daniel
Baum from Swanton, Ohio. My entrance into the aviation world was a relatively recent
one, and began on May 17th, 2012, when I took a “Discovery Flight”
at Toledo Suburban Airport (KDUH).

Prior to the flight, I had never had the opportunity to fly
in a small aircraft, and had certainly never been behind the controls of any
aircraft. I had always enjoyed traveling, and (currently working a desk job)
was looking for a profession that wasn’t quite so stagnate. Flying fulfilled
both these desires, and thus, my interest in the aviation industry began.
Who I Am Now:
I
am currently completing my final year at Eastern Michigan University,
majoring in Aviation Flight Technology, and hope to graduate in the
summer or fall of 2017.
Who I Will Become:
Upon
graduation, I intend to work as a flight instructor, preferably at the
Eagle Flight Centre, until I am able to obtain the flight hours required
for my ATP; after which, I would like to be hired as an airline pilot.
Although
I am certain I would like to fly for a Part 121 airline, I am uncertain
at this point which airline. For the Regionals, Endeavor Air currently
interests me; however, by the time I finish my training, the
circumstances may change. As for the majors, I am interested in Delta
Air Lines, but again, plans may change.
What Aviation Topics Interest Me:
Being
relatively new to the aviation industry, I find that I can learn from
and enjoy most topics discussed. However, if I had to pick two that
interest me currently, it would be 1. the regulations concerning UAVs
(as I dabbled in FPV RC aircraft some years back), and 2. anything
pertaining to the lifestyle of airline pilots.
This second topic particularly interests me as it is my intended profession and, as such, I appreciate hearing any personal experiences, or advice someone involved in the industry has to offer.

Why Penguins?
There are two possible answers to this:
1. Maybe I feel that we are like the penguin, flightless birds wanting to overcome our limitations and take flight.
Or
2. I simply like penguins and thought the name sounded nice.
(Yeah, it's the second one)
Cheers
~Daniel~
